Charity Number: 1170490 | Oldham, UK
Founded in 2001 by Michael Waugh, Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO is a registered charity based in Oldham. Our mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted and abandoned animals. We operate a rescue centre on Honeywell Lane, providing sanctuary and veterinary care for pets until permanent homes are found. In 2016, the organization transitioned into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) to ensure long-term stability and governance.
We have helped hundreds of animals find loving homes. One notable case was "Kenny", a severely abused Pakistani Mastiff who became a symbol of resilience and love. He passed away in 2021 but left a lasting mark on our community. Our team of volunteers and supporters work tirelessly to ensure each animal receives the care and compassion they deserve.
All adoptions are by appointment only, from 1 PM to 3 PM daily. We assess each adopter's lifestyle and match them with the right animal. Adoption includes vet checks, microchipping, and support.
We recommend pet insurance through Agria Pet Insurance and offer lifetime support for our adopted pets. We also provide post-adoption follow-ups to ensure the welfare of every rehomed animal.
We are governed by a board of five trustees. Our income in 2023–2024 was £282,704 with expenditures of £310,548. All financial reports are submitted to the UK Charity Commission annually. Trustees serve on a voluntary basis and are committed to transparency, ethical fundraising, and effective animal welfare practices.
